Smart Card login with Multiple Users RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm having problems with a PC that we are configuring for Smart Card login, When the first user loggs on using their smart card everything is fine, however if they log off and then another user comes to login they cannot log onto the PC untill it is restarted.

I have set the registry to not cache any login credentials, and not to store the name of last user, however none of these seam to relase the details of the last card used.

We are using ACS v3 cards and the middleware components are installed and like i previously said, for the first login the card works with no problems, it's just subsequent logins after this that are not working at all.

The event log records the following error:

    Event Type:    Error
    Event Source:    Smart Card Logon
    Event Category:    None
    Event ID:    7
    Date:        19/04/2012
    Time:        10:17:42
    User:        N/A
An error occurred while signing a message using the inserted smart card: Provider could not perform the action since the context was acquired as silent.

Could anyone suggest a location to look at in order to force windows to forget the last used card upon logoff of the user? We've tried different card readers without success.

Windows Version: XP Pro - SP3
