    If there are two or more instances returned, then the results are an considered an array of type System.Object[] by PowerShell. In PowerShell, arrays have a Length and Count property. The Count property in PowerShell is actually simply a reference to the Length property. You can observe this by viewing the "PSExtended" version of the result.

    If you observe a little deeper into the command you're running, you'll see what I mean. Try this for starters:

    $(Get-Item $DataPath\*.id).GetType()
    IsPublic IsSerial Name   BaseType
    -------- -------- ----   --------
    True True Object[]   System.Array
