Look for mp3 files in user directory's using CMD RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey

Iam trying to find a way of searching for MP3 files through cmd, the reason being that i have multiple users in a server 2008 and i have noticed that they are using alot of space, so i tried to search for mp3 files in their server directory's  but search (explorer) crashed all the time. Then i tried to figure out a way to do it in CMD but haven't used CMD so much recently and forgot how to look through all sup dir's for files with specific extension, like mp3.

    Can anyone help?

  • Hi,

Type in *.mp3 in the Search box. Then, you can find all the mp3 files on the computer.

    Hope this helps.

  • Open Cmd. Navigate to the particular folder. Type dir *.mp3 >C:\test.txt /s. It will save all the mp3 files path in a text file with the name test.txt in your C Drive.
