Outlook 2003 closes when trying to "work offline" RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a user who starts Outlook 2003 and is asked whether she wants to "retry", "work offline" or "cancel". She chooses the option to work offline and then boxes pop up trying to open each archive folder she has. Her archives are saved on her home drive which is a network drive. She has like 10 of them. After she cancels each one, Outlook tells her "unable to open folders etc" and then outlook closes.

She wants to be able to open Outlook to work offline. What am I missing here? Thanks.

  • Hi,

What happens if you copy the PST to the local machine and try it from there, you can try with creating new OST file for user by delete existing one and let OL 2003 to create thru cach mode.

To see How to create a new .ost file and synchronize the folders::

Saving your PST archive files on a network drive is not a good idea. PST archive files will not be accessible whenever the network is down.
Second, it will slow some operations in Outlook 2003 compared with using a local archive file.

  • Hi,

Please ensure that you have pst files for Outlook 2003 except these archive folders. Besides, we recommend you to store outlook data files locally.
