IE - pop up stating webpage wants to run the following add-on 'Windows script host runtime library' RRS feed

  • Question

  • I see this question has been asked several times with no real answers posted. So I would like to create a new opportunity for answers to be posted. When a web page asks for additional access and my computer has to ask me for permission it makes me nervous?

    My questions are:

Why is this pop up occurring?

Why is IE is not enabling this by default?

Why are there only two options to resolve, allow or allow on all websites, with no option to never allow?

What personal information am I granting permission for the website to access by allowing the script to run?

Is there a risk to expose financial data (stored credit cards, bank info)?

Is there a risk I can be exposed to malware/hacking by allowing the process to run?

What am I missing from the websites by not allowing it to run?

    Thanks for your help.

  • Why is this pop up occurring?

Probably because your Security zone settings are not the defaults.  Try setting all Security zones to their default settings.
