Exchange 2010 Migration from 2003. Remove exchange 2003 from organization. RRS feed

When looking at these two articles about how to remove an exchange server from the organization they suggest to do the following:

Replicate all public folders to another server
Rehome the Offline Address Book folder
Change the server that is responsible for generating the Offline Address List
Rehome the Schedule+ Free Busy folder
    Rehome the Organization Forms folder
Designate another server to be the routing group master

When I researched migration articles they only mentioned recreating the offline address book and replication of the public folders.  Which I have done already.

The server that I am migration from is not the first server in the exchange organization, only a member exchange server.

    Do I have to?:
Rehome the Offline Address Book folder (or does creating an address do this already)?

Do I have to do these als?o:
Rehome the Schedule+ Free Busy folder
    Rehome the Organization Forms folder

  • Hi,

You can use this article to remove the last legacy server from the organization:

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb288905(EXCHG.80).aspx

If you have no Outlook 2003 or older clients you don't need to rehome the schedule+ free/busy folder or the offline address book folders (these can be deleted).

If you are not using organizational forms this folder can be deleted.

  • Hi,

If the exchange 2003 server want to remove is not the first installed exchange 2003 servers, you do not need to rehome the system pubulic folder such as Offline Address Book.
