numlock still on after shut down RRS feed

  • Question

  • I recently installed windows 7 professional on my computer. A clean install from XP-Pro 32 bit.

I have a M2N32 SLI-Deluxe ASUS mother board. Corsair 750 PSU Sli certified, 4 gigs Corsair dominator ram, BFG GTX 285 vid card, 2 hard drives- SATA-320 gig, armor thermaltake case.

After upgrading, which everthing works great, when I shut down the compter normally, the numlock light stays on.

Not sure what is causing this.  It does not appear to be causing any problems at this time. Any help on this?

  • That is fine. You do realize that you computer still uses power when it is of right? It does this for a variaty for reasosn some being to maintain proper time ( I am fully aware that some computer, if not all, have a small back up battery to keep the correct date and time, but it is just a back up). With all that being said some power goes to the keyboard to keep the light activited, it does no harm to anything so if I were you I wouldnt worry about it.

  • Hi Capswitcher,

Mostly, this issue is caused by the computer system allow a certain key-combination to power the computer on. You can try to disable this function in a BIOS entry. Normally, it will be under power management or something like wake up settings.

    Hope it helps.

  • I still have the same problem.

With Windows XP installed the num lock was still off after shutdown and now with windows 7 it is on when i shutdown the computer. And this has nothing to do "that my computer consumes power after shutdown" or "..special key to start the computer ..."

Please don´t post "tipps" like this.
