Key names in On screen keyboard RRS feed

  • Question

  • When creating a standard Windows keyboard with Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator 1.4, I can choose a Language (in the menu Properties). But the names of the Control, Alt, Tab, Caps, Shift, Backspace, Enter, Control, Home, etc., keys do not appear necessarily in this language when using On secreen keyboard.

For example, if the Language of the keyboard is Hebrew or Greek, the names of the keys are displayed in English; if the Language is Catalan, the names of the keys are displayed in Spanish.

Is there a way to edit the names of these keys? Which rules does Windows follow to choose a language when displaying the names of these keys?

(I am using Windows 7 Catalan.)

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • It would be useful to have a look through the documentation for the application. You may be able to change it although this seems unlikely.
