Security Essentials service stopping RRS feed

  • We have some classroom workstations running Windows 7 Enterprise. Since the March 2019 Patch Tuesday updates, the Microsoft Security Essentials service will stop when performing a scan, and must me manually restarted. After restarting, if another scan is attempted, the service will stop again. I have uninstalled and re-installed Microsoft Security Essentials but this did not resolve the issue. Is there a fix for this?

  • I am having the same problem on Windows 7 Professional 32bit edition computers. These are Dell Latitude 131L and Inspiron 1501 laptops (both with AMD Turion TL-50 and TL-52 processors). Microsoft Security Essentials quick scan shuts off toward the end of the scan, with red alert messages, and has to be manually started again. The quick scan never completes. This is after the March 2019 Windows Updates have been installed.

  • These are 32 bit as well.
