Volume Shadow Copy Service Error RRS feed

  • We are using a DPM 2010 X64 Win 2008 (SP1) server with internal disk to backup our windows XP clients. We have four such boxes in our environment and only one of them is showing this error frequently. It appears to be related to mounting the VSS volume either on the target (client) or the server. We don't see any errors in the logs on the clients that are having trouble, but we see this and other VSS related errors popping up on our server alot. At first I was skeptical of our controller and the array, but the firmware and disk sub-system reporting mechanisms are all clean and green.

    We're seeing this error all over our DPM 2010 server:

    In addition to the error we frequently get failed or completely stalled client synchronizations. Sometimes deleting the client from the protection group and re-adding it helps.

    The server has no QFE's or Rollups for DPM applied yet.
