WMI issue when running Data Gathering RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a 2007 SCCM installation that I'm trying to move to 2012. I have set the SOurce Hierarchy and go to run the Data Gathering but it fails with "Configuration Manager was unable to connect to WMI on the source site with the specified credentials. Please ensure the credentials are specified correctl, and that the specified account is a member of the Distributed COM Users group on the source site server"

I've used WBEMTEST to ensure I can access the SMS and SMS\Site namespaces. The user is definitely in the DCOM Users group.

    Anyone got any ideas?

  • You have to grant permissions to the computer account of the 2012 site server.

  • Thanks Torsten,

I have created a migration account in the 2007 domain (they are actually separate forests) and I use this in the account for SMS Provider and SQL. I'm sure you don't have to have a machine account - I've never had to use one before!
