Remove Store and Edge from Default User Taskbar RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want to remove the default Edge and Store icons from the taskbar for new users.

Using CopyProfile=True causes too much damage to Windows 10, so that's out.

I don't want to prevent icons from being pinned, just remove them by default, so local / group policy is out.

    I tried using this script:

    REG LOAD HKU\TEMP "C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\NTUSER.DAT"
    REG ADD HKU\TEMP\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce /v Taskbar_Custom /d "regedit /s \"C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Taskbar_Custom.reg\"" /f
    REG UNLOAD HKU\TEMP

But it prompts for UAC elevation for non-admins when they log on.

    Is there another method?

I'd prefer not to use Group Policy for this.  I would like this done during build or deployment.

    Thanks,

    -Matt

  • Hi

If you create a application with the files and run the script - it will work.

I will test it later to day.

    Kind regards

Like his other solution I was vaguely referencing, it is for SCCM, and looks like it won't execute from MDT without prompting non-admins for elevated permissions.
