SBS 2008 startup problems RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, can anyone help!

on the restart of our Proliant server it goes no further than the Microsoft title "Microsoft Corporation" with the green snake travelling across the bottom, our hardware contractor confirmed no hardware faults and suggested to re start with Disc 1 of the repair disc and re start. disc was insert and has been running for 12 hours.

question, is this normal with a software corruption, and if not then what should be the next step

your help would be greatly apreciated

  • SBS 2008 is based on Vista, and if on an old, low spec server, so painful as to to be not worth the effort of bothering with by now, especially if has been in production for 4/5 years maybe.  If this is your business and you are experiencing downtime, there are so many variables in this situation I would advise getting an experienced IT pro in to advise best solution.  If the server is as old as the OS, and a base spec model, you may be better cutting losses and going for something new.
