Tasks will not slide in time according to dependencies RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi! I have this problem in MS Project that a milestone that is set up as Auto Schedule with a dependency to a task that finish 14th January place itself at 18th December. How is this possible? The Constraint of the milestone is "As Soon As Possible". I have similiar problems with several tasks and milestones in the same plan. I have not used MS Project in some years but used it quite a lot earlier. Can not remember this problem from previous days.

  • Hi Arild,

In the menu file/options/schedule, check in the "calculation" section if the "calculate project after each edit" is set to ON. Also press F9 to see if it helps. Finally, it is doesn't, do a test on a blank new file to see if you can reproduce the issue.

    Hope this helps,

  • Hi,

This phenomenon is often due to a circular relationship involving sumary tasks. Delete all links to and from summary tasks and you should be OK.
