Office 2010 Adding Additional Proxies RRS feed

  • Question

  • HI,

I am in the process of sequncing Office 2010 and have run into a
little hickup. I would like to add the additional OSD files for
additional proxies however i am struggling to find exactly where i
need to do this in the sequencing console. It says click the browse
button and select EG: Mapiserver.exe. Please can you point me in the
right direction as on which TAB i need to do this. Is it under the
OSD tab or Virtual Files Tab?????

I am refering to section 6 of the
    App-V_Recipe_For_Office2010_Beta_Deployment_Kit.doc

I know for sure it is staring me straight in the face but for the life
of me i cant figure out where.

    Many Thanks

  • Hi,

You can add additional applications in the "Add Applications" screen of the sequencing wizard.
It's after the Monitoring step and before the Launch application step.

When you add the applications simply browse to the location of the application you want to add (in this case the proxies).

If you want to add proxies after you already created the package, simply open the sequence for upgrade and run through the wizard again.
No need to monitor in this particular case, just go straight to the Add applications step.

  • Hi,

Many Many thanks to both of you for assisting me. I did manage to figure it out eventually and have created my own recipe which is a bit more comprehensive. The problem i am having now is that i have managed to sequence OFFICE 2010 no problems. I have deployed the APP-V 4.6 Client and configured the registery settings to allow for standa alone deployments. I then installed the Office2010 deployment kit with the PIDKEYS switch and PROFESSIONALPLUS=1 switch. I then installed the Sequenced OFFICE 2010 App-V Package with no problems and i can launch the apps and their are no licencing problems.

The problem i am having now is would like to enable the proxies to allow for outlook search and all other proxies. The problem i am having is that using the command line below which i have copied from the orginal recipe on connect.microsoft.com and configured with my packageguid and app version it does not run and i receive the msiexec / Windows Installer helpfile displaying all the swiches available for the windows installer. I have searched and searched the web for the available switches for the Offvirt.msi or some kind of documentation explaining the available swiches and what the syntax should look like bit have had no luck thus far.

Please can you take a look at the command line below and possible assist me where i am going wrong.

    msiexec /i OffVirt.msi ADDDEFAULT=Click2runOneNoteProxy,Click2runOutlookProxies,Click2runWDSProxy,Click2runOWSSuppProxies PACKAGEGUID={EF2D625D-2BD3-4226-A480-CFE325BBDCDE} PACKAGEVERSION=14.0.4514.1004 OUTLOOKNAME=”Microsoft Outlook 2010 (Beta)” ONENOTENAME=”Microsoft OneNote 2010 (Beta)” MAPISERVER=”Simple Mapi Proxy Server” VIRTUALSEARCHHOST=”Virtual Search Host” MLCFG32CPL=”Mail Control Panel” OWSSUPPServer=”Virtual OWSSupp Manager”

Please also take note that when i sequenced Office 2010 i followed the exact same naming convention for the proxies eg "Mail Control Panel" , "Virtualsearchhost" etc etc etc that was mentioned in the sequencing recipe to make sure everything aligns however the only naming convention that differs from the recipe is that the application name for example "Microsoft Outlook" is not "Microsoft Outlook 2010" But "Microsoft Outlook 2010 (Beta)”  i am hoping that the () Surrounding the word (Beta) does not have something to do with it as this is the default name Office 2010 gives the application as part of the installation.

Please if there is any documentation available for the Offvirt.msi explaining the switches that would be very handy or any other pointers it would be greatly apprtiated.

    Kind regards

  • Hi Mark,

I think I know exactly what your issue is. I've run into the same thing and I bounced my head over it a couple of days :-)

The command line in the document seems to be formatted with ” (I call them italic quotes) in stead of " (I call them straight quotes).
Windows Installer doesn't recognize ”. Replace ” with " on the command line and I think you will be just fine as long as you have the names and version correct.

    Good luck

  • Hi Guys

A bit delayed but many thanks for assiting me with getting Office 2010 Sequenced. Working like a charm. However i do have 1 issue is that when i open a attachement such as word, excel and powerpoint from within Microsoft outlook. The windows installer opens up and disappears and does not open the file in the required application. I have to manually save the file out of Outlook e-mail and then double click the file to open up the relevant application. This is not the case however when i open a PDF with another sepratly sequenced application of Adobe reader.

    Any Suggestions.

Also Many thanks again for all your assistence
