Earned Value Report Question RRS feed

  • I am trying to created an earned value report basked on % complete (x axis), and time(months) y axis rather than costs, can this type of report be created?  If so,  how would you do it in Project 2010?

  • Rozin,

I might as well open the dialogue, I'm sure others will chime in.

Actually by default earned value calculations in Project are based on percent complete but percent complete only provides the current "progress" measurement that sets up the earned value calculations. And by definition, classical earned value is cost based. You mention an earned value report but it sounds like you want a progress graph of percent complete versus time. Before we can be of any help, we need to understand more about your end goal.

Just for reference virtually any kind of report can be generated. It may be a modification of an existing report, an existing view or it may require the data to be exported to another application (e.g. Excel) for data manipulation and plotting. The method to do that may be available through customization of a visual report or it may require a macro.

  • Kind of sounds like Earned Schedule?  If so, you might want to take a look at third party tools like this one...
