Swap from Beta to RC on a Dual Boot , Dual Disk setup XP SP3 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, couldn't find the exact case/question in the forums so hopefully I'm not repeating someone.

    I have already
Windows XP SP3 dual booting wtih Windows 7 Beta - two separate drives.
What is the process to replace the beta for the RC ?

I would like to do a clean install.

Can I re-format the  drive with the Beta on and pop in the RC disk, install and hey presto ?

What will happen with the boot loader ? Is it clever enough ?
Or do I just put the disk in and let the install overwrite the beta ? (does it know ?)

just a guideline would be fine. Don't want to screw up my XP drive or the booting process

    Cheers
    ScottyB

  • Boot into XP, reformat the drive Win7 beta is on, put the Win7 RC DVD in the drive and run setup from within XP, select the drive to install Win7 on - wait a while - if succesful - dual boot XP and Win7.
