I have tried to redownload the CU22, Its extract with no problem.

The server had not been patched for a long time, so I When durring the process of updating windows to Current update, and then update to .net 472 before trying til install first the CU21 - which failed with the same error as, the CU22 :-(

My guess it's its something local on the server causing the issue, since its both CU 21 and CU22 which fails with ApaAgentPerfCounters.h.

I have don a procmon off the installation, and the MSI have access to the \ApaAgentPerfCounters.h file. What todo ??

  • Been Working on the server most off the day

its seams that the C:\Exchange Install\Exchange2013Cu22\Setup\Perf\ApaAgentPerfCounters.h not is missing but its missung ind the installation directory.

using procmon, im able to trace where the file needs to go, and manuel coping it there ( THIS IS NOT SUPPORTED I KNOW)

after ApaAgentPerfCounters.h other files starts to popup which i need to copy to the right folder.

    Update …..

    Solved the issue my self.

Copied the files like ApaAgentPerfCounters.h and other to the locations where I could see in Procmon the file was missing. After that i managed the serverices would not go from "distabled" to automatic, which i solved with PowerShell and in the end I managed to get the server into the "air" again.

Next sted: build an new server and move the "test" environment to IT...

  • Hi,

Error 1603 is symptom of Visual C++.

Please install Visual C++ 2013 and then try again.

  • I had this exact problem upgrading from CU21 to CU22. Running setup.exe via UNC from another server solved it for me:

    \\<servername>\c$\temp\ex2013cu22\setup.exe /Mode:Upgrade /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms

    Go figure...

  • Nice one Adam :)

Even though I ran a compare with the remote and the local dirs which came up in-sync, the unattended remote install ran smoothly... go figure
