Direct Access - Windows 7 clients working but the Connectivity Assistant reporting 'not working'. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Sorry if this isn't the right forum.

Not sure if anyone has come across this before? We've got direct access running as a pilot and all is working well. The business is happy and keen to role it out so I'm working towards that. I've got an issue wherethe Connectivity Assistant is reporting DA is not working, even though direct access is connecting and clients can work fine over it. I've looked through the logs on the client but can't see anything out of the ordiniary. Has anyone got any suggestions? We're not using OTP.

    The logs are here:

  • That's because DAC and NAC does not use the same registry configuration.

  • Hi,

That's because since Windows 2012, the RAM console configure required parameters for NAC (Windows 8 and above). Parameters are a little bit different for DAC. You need to create an additional GPO that target your Windows 7 clients to configure DAC.

  • You can find required IPv6 addresses using netsh advfirewall monitor show mmsa on a DA client and look at the 'Remote IP Address' values to determine the DTE's.

  • Hey,

Thanks for the reply. I went through the guide on setting up the GPOs for windows 7 and it was working, that's the thing. It still does in essence, clients connect fine but it's narrowing down what has caused the client to report that it isn't walking. I'll go through it again and double check.
