  • DPM agent installation says that DPM already installed. What should I fix "DPM installed" state?
Tryed to install SCDPM 2010, 2012, 2012SP1 amd 2012R2 Agents.
    All logs like this:

But I Can't find any registry keys or something else about DPM.

The same error, trying install DPM Central console or DPM Remote Administration

  • Why bother repairing this? This seems so messy that I wouldn't want to use DPM on this machine even if I got it installed. I would dump the DB move it to another machine for backup, reinstall the OS with Windows 2012 and then cleanly install DPM 2012 SP1 which most likely was your previous version. Then restore the DB, run dpmsync check if DPM works and do the upgrade again. So far I have upgraded about 15 DPM servers to R2 and didn't have any issues yet. I do hope that a reinstallation will fix your upgrade issue. It's a lot of work though...

  • Unfortunately, update from 2012SP1 to R2 was successful.

I just deleted DPM server folder from Program Files (yes, I'am fool). So, I have to came back my DPM.

Reparing and uninstalling stops with unexpected error, even without error code.

Then, I clean up registry. Now I have error 814.

This server has SCVMM 2012R2 and SCCM 2012R2 - it's VM with Windows Server 2012. So, it's difficult to reinstall server completely.

  • Well, if the uprade was successful then it is even better: Dump the DB DB tand move it to another server, do a fresh install with Windows 2012 R2, install SQL Server 2012 SP1, install DPM 2012 R2, restore the old DPM DB and do dpmsync -sync

  • What about fresh install DPM server on previous server?

I don't want to deploy new server or install DPM to other server.

    Is 814 error unrecoverible?

How to understand, what_DetectDPM checks to know that DPM installed or maby there is a way to disable "Action  _DetectDPM" while installation at all?

  • That is what I meant: Backup the DPM DB to another server and reinstall the OS and DPM.

  • Ok, I have VM on the same host with CA and KMS roles and desired fresh install DPM here.

I installed SQL Server 2012 SP1 instance named SCDPM.

    I installed DPM Server 2012 R2 successful.

DPM service can't be started - event id 999. Trying Repair/Uninstall DPM Server from add/remove programs or DPM installation media - error id 4387.
