MMC error on win2k8 RRS feed

  • On Windows 2008 64bit I get MMC could not create the snap-in when I try to open the Server Manager or Event Viewer.

    is there a  fix for this ?

    As Dave said, it could be caused by different reasons. One reason for failing to open server may be that Invalid entries were added to the machine.config during Windows Update. You could take a look and have a try following the article as below:

    And generally, this issue is related to .net framework, you could also start troubleshooting from this side, such as upgrading it

  • Thank you for your help.  I tried removing several .NET programs which fixed the MMC error, but when I re-installed the windows updates, the error came back.  I think something happened when one of our products was uninstalled.  My final fix was to create the image again, update all windows products, then install my products.  Seems to work now.
