Router Confgiuration for OSD RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello Everyone,

I am trying to configure cisco router for OSD, but it seems something is not right as I am getting Access Violation error while I boot the client machine.  I have tried the same client with Microsoft DHCP Server for testing and it is working fine.  So, I am really interested in what needs to be configured on the Cisco 2800 Series Router who is acting as a DHCP Server as well so that my OSD can work.  Thanks in advance.

  • for pxe to succeed, the dhcp/bootp discover from the client has to reach *both* the dhcp server (your router) *and* the WDS/PSP.

or else you have to use dhcp options 66 & 67 at your router, to point to WDS/PSP

  • You really need to be more specific about your configuration and scenario. Just saying "it doesn't work" does not provide us any information to help you.

You need to provide information like the following

    - Your boot image configuration

    - Are you PXE booting?

    - Where are you receiving the above error message?

    - What troubleshooting have you done?

    - What steps did you take to configure the the scenario?

    - What steps did you take to get the "problem"?

    - Are you following a guide?

    - Have you reviewed any TechNet or third-party documentation? If so, which step is causing you issues?

  • Boot Images:  Window PE 2.0 X86 AND X64 Added and Distributed.

    PXE Booting:  Yes

Error Message Received at the client who is trying to pxe boot.

    I posted message here.

Two boxes holding database and sccm on same network, clients on different network, dhcp on different network (router)

I tried pxeing from a client.

I cannot seem to find any guide for configuring router for OSD.

Yes, no mention of specific settings anywhere.

  • It is not supported. If your PXE clients are connected to DHCP server across a router, you must configure the router to relay DHCP traffic to designated DHCP servers. Please refer:

PXE Clients do not receive an IP address from a DHCP server
