Windows Update: Configure to ignore particular applications RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am running Windows Vista (32-bit) and would like to configure the automatic update utility so that it does not download updates for applications which I do not have installed (such as Outlook).  It would be great to have a checklist of applications for which it will monitor the available updates. That way I could uncheck the things I don't want.

Also, it often recommends available updates to me for products that I do not want, such as games. It would be nice to be able to check a box that says: I don't want this, please don't offer it to me in the future. I can't find any way to accomplish either of these things in the configuration panel of the updater or in the help files.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

    Thanks!
