  • Question

  • I have a task sequence that errors out in WinPE with error code -2147467259 0x80004005.  I have looked through the bdd.log and smsts.log and while I can see the error logged to bdd.log I must not be grasping something because I cannot figure out the problem.  The bdd.log is here: http://1drv.ms/1JCF78f and smsts.log is here http://1drv.ms/1JCFgZt.

The task sequence itself is a bit unusual in that it installs 2 partitions from a captured thick wim, but the ts did work last we tried it.  We recently updated from MDT 2012 to 2013 U1, I'm not sure if that's related but could be.  I'll make the ts.xml available if someone wants it.

Thanks a lot for the help.

  • Well since you moved up to Update 1 you should probably just install Update 2 which contains more fixes. After you upgraded did you create all new task sequences which is a requirement after upgrading?

  • Thanks for the reply Dan. I wasn't aware that recreating task sequences was recommended, I have other sequences that work fine still, but I recreated the ts anyway; it did not help.  I believe the problem is with the command line in the ts that installs the second partition from the captured image:

    "%DEPLOYROOT%\Tools\x86\Imagex.exe" /apply "%DEPLOYROOT%\Operating Systems\<IMAGEDIR>\<IMAGENAME>.wim" 2 %DataDisk%

because the ts finishes fine when I disable this step.

  • Sounds like you had some previous customization in your deployment share to create a second partition to keep "Data" separate from the "OS".
