How to detect XP SP2 in Windows 7 XP compatible mode? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Move my question from Microsoft Windows Vista Community site to here.

The CSD version for XP SP2 should be 0x200 (512).
But in Windows 7 XP compatible mode, it is 0.  Why?
    We check this by registry
    HKLM\system\CurrentControlSet\control\windows\CSDVersion

Then how we identify a correct Windows 7 XP compatible mode SP2?

  • I know why nobody answer my question because nobody knows where my results come from.  I just get to know that these registry results are retrieved by TCL command, registry get {key}{value}.  They are not real Windows OS registry values, which would not change by compatibility mode change.  May be TCL developer knows where they come from.
