PWA 2013 Project Detail Page Basic Info Web Part - Display form does not show updates to Enterprise Custom Field, but Updates are visible on Edit form RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a PWA 2103 Project Detail Page with a Basic Info Web part with several Enterprise Custom fields. Several users have reported that they are making updates to the fields on the form, Closing the form and checking in the project. When they re-enter their project the entries do not appear to have changed on the Project Detail page, but when they select Edit from the ribbon bar, the changes are displayed in the editable fields on the page. This does not happen to everyone and happens sporadically for users that have reported the problem.

  • Which update are you in for Project Server 2013? There was a known issue talking about something similar which was fixed in May 2015 CU for Project Server:

When you go to a project detail page and then go back to another project detail page in Project Web App, the values in project-level custom fields may disappear. This issue occurs after you edit and save projects through different project detail pages.

If this is the case then you can install the latest update June 2016 CU for Project Server 2013 to fix the issue. Rollup – https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3115172

  • Hi Charles,

One thing, whenever you update any piece of information in Project Server make sure you 'Publish' the project for it to get reflected in all places.

The reason you see updated value in edit mode is that project values are still in draft state, it was probably not published so it would get synced across all tables.

  • This behavior usually occurs with specific projects rather than specific users,

To investigate this issue you should

    1. check the provided value for your custom field and make sure that it's matched with its data type.
    2. Try to open the project in web app then click on edit project and save then publish.
    3. Try to open the Project with Project Professional and review your data in your custom field then save and publish.

    Hope it helps you
