I'm done with the installation of our new SharePoint Server 2007 but i was not able to find its config database. Can you please help me locate it? We are running SQL Server 2005.

  • Do you install the Standalone?
If  this is true, verify if you have the SQL server express database install.
"Start>all programs>Microsoft SQL Server 2005>SQL Server Management Studio" on Server Name Dropdown select "Browse for more" and expand the Database Engine to list all instances.
If you have install verify the databases on that SQL server instance.

  • Hi Albie,

You can also try to get the Config Database from SharePoint Central Admin.  From Administrative Tools, click on the SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration link.  Click the Operations -> Perform a backup link.  In this page, you will all the Database Details.

Additionally, the DNS key in the following registery hive can also provide you the Config DB details.

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Web Server Extensions\12.0\Secure\configdb

    Hope this helps.
