processor power management - missing cpu speed options RRS feed

  • Question

  • im running win7 ultimate 64 bit on a intel i7 920, not overclocked.

up until recently, when i went to power options/advanced settings/processor power management i had three entries; system cooling policy which is still visible, and min/max processor speed, neither of which are now there.

i have not upgraded the bios (ever) so thats not it.  i have installed/deinstalled several software packages, so....no telling about that.

any idea what happened and how to get these options back?

  • You could always perform a system restore to a point in time before the problem was discovered.

Visit the motherboard manufacturer's support site and find more recent updates and utilities. Perhaps you should upgrade the BIOS if a newer version is available.

If that doesn't help, further information may be found in the Event Viewer, critical and error categories. Perhaps you will get a clue to the culprit there.

Be careful with third party system apps and tweakers. You don't really need them with that hardware.
