windows 10 will not update past 1607

    Question

  • I have tried installing windows 10 and the install is successful.  The problem occurs when the updates get to the version 1607 and cannot continue and returns windows 10 to the previous state. How do you go about getting past this. Is there some kind of hotfix or file that can be downloaded to allow windows 10 to function properly?

    Thanks,

    Use this link
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10

    Click the Update Now button.
That should start the process of installing 1607 version.
After successful installation and activation, wait for Windows Update to bring your build up to dte.

  • Hi ,

Is there any error message when this problem occurred?

If this issue only occured on one specific machine, we could check the setup*.log(C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther) (hidden) to find what caused this issue.

If you don`t want to troubleshoot this issue deeply, we could try to perform an in-place upgrade to get Windows 10 version 1607. Unplug all the external devices and remove the security applications if you have any installed on your computer before upgrading. To isolate the third party service conflict issue, we could boot into a clean boot environment, then boot from the Windows 10 version 1607 ISO and choose "Upgrade" install.
