Windows 10 1607 clients don't report to the WSUS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Since upgrading "some clients" to 1607 I have found 90% of them will not report to the WSUS server. They appear in the WSUS console but never actually report. I have tried pretty much everything I can think of but to no avail. Anyone else have any idea what is going on?

The 1511 clients are reporting fine.

  • Solved: I had to manually install on every 1607 client the patch: KB3176938

Seriously Microsoft the WSUS situation really sucks lately please make our lives easier and not harder.

  • Is it just me or is anybody else having a nightmare with WSUS deploying cumulative updates etc to 1607 clients. Most of them are failing to download and I'm having to install almost all the updates manually. This is driving me nuts.

1511 clients seem to be still downloading and installing updates.

  • Well from what I've been reading this evening I might aswell give up. I'll have to disable WSUS for 1607 clients until Microsoft sorts this out. Really surprised how complicated WSUS has become lately with Windows 10. My question to Microsoft is why make something so unreliable that yet is so very important, even critical to a corporate environment? Is security not important anymore?. hugely disappointed tbh.

And what's even more funny (well its not actually funny but)... Even if Microsoft do release a fix none of the clients are going to download the update because they are all stuck with the previous updates.

So well done Microsoft! If I didn't have enough problems to deal with, now I have to spend hours going to every workstation manually installing updates.

Oh and by the way the Windows 8.1 clients are all happily downloading security updates without a single hitch... And you thought we should all get out of 8.1 as soon as possible because it wasn't good enough.

  • Hi dybsdj-MCITP,

Actually, I get similar issues with you in my test lab. After upgrading win10 clients to 1607, seems there are some issues when downloading updates from WSUS server. It always hangs at 0%, sometimes, reset the computer and enable windows update service running and turn on windows defender can solve the issue, while not for all computers.

Finally, I update them from Microsoft update directly (delete AU settings in registry), then still monitoring the behavior of them.

    Best Regards,

    Anne
