PWA 2016 - Removing the Timeline from Project view RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    Is there a way to remove the Timeline which appears above the tasks grid in Project views of Project Server Web App 2016?

    I did managed removing the Timeline webpart from the Project Center view, but as I understand, in Project views the timeline is a part of the task grid.

    Thanks in advance,

    Andrius Gailiavichius

  • If you add a script editor web part to the page, the following script snippet inserted therein worked just fine on my page:

    <script>
    setTimeout(function waitForTL(){
    	if(document.querySelectorAll("span[istimelineparent='1']>div").length>0){
    		document.querySelectorAll("span[istimelineparent='1']")[0].style.display="none";
    		document.querySelectorAll("span[istimelineparent='1']>div")[0].style.height="0px";
    	}
    	else{
    		setTimeout(waitForTL,100);
    	}
    },100);
    </script>

  • I would say no there isnt a way and would like to be proven wrong.   When I click on "Page" tab and edit the "Title Bar Properties",  and then removed the timeline, it removed the schedule as well.  So it seems that the timeline and schedule details are connected as you said.

  • Hi Michael,

    I tried several years ago on Project Server 2010 without any success. But I retried again tonight on Project Online :

    Gear / Edit Page / select carefully the Timeline WebPart and Click Delete.

    Come back to the Project Center : it is blank... but don't be afraid : wait 20 minutes and all the projects are there, without Timeline!

  • Gérard,

    If you'll look at my original post carefully, you'll see that my question is about Project views, however, your reply is about the Project Center view.

    Take care,

  • Hello Gerard,

    Yes, I saw that was available to remove on the project center.   I wonder why it took so long to complete the operation.  It must have have to wait for cache or open files to close.

    Anyway, its the project schedule web part.  I looks like the timeline is built into the schedule part.  I believe the web part is called DETAILS.

  • Personally I don't think it is possible to remove the timeline from this view.
