R2 upgrade not detecting previous Portal Install

Question
-
i have gone through and upgraded all my servers to R2 with the exception of the Portal. When launching the setup the only upgrade listed is the Console. Don't recall the console being installed on the portal but its on there. With the install being a Virtual Machine I took a snapshot and removed the console which fixes the install but in doing so breaks my current portal. I receive an http 503 error. tried restarting services and rebooting to no avail. Tried launching the R2 setup again it still does not see the existing portal. I reverted to the previous snapshot so now I am back at square one.
has anyone run into this scenario before? any help would be appreciated ~thanks

Try to install a new HTML5 SSP. It has a separate installation process. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt622142(v=sc.12).aspx

Hello,
Yes, other server should also have UR installed. Make sure that the update is installed on the Service Manager components in the following order:
- Data Warehouse Server
- Primary Management Server
- Secondary Management Servers
- All analyst consoles
