Web Professional Install Errors RRS feed

  • Question

  • The Web Professional install from IE is successful for most of our users but a few are having difficulties. Can anyone help me figure out how to troubleshoot these problems (without installing from the disk)?

    Issue #1:

Download Manager does not install. Gives the following error:

"The Download Manager could not be installed on this computer. Please try the following:

Log off Windows, and log in as an Administrator.

Contact the web site administrator to resolve this issue.

Use the Standard application, which does not require the Download Manager."

The user is an administrator on the box and the Standard application will not meet their needs.

    Issue #2:

The install of Web Professional acts like it completes but it has an hourglass for about 5 minutes after the windows for the install close. Web Professional shows up in Add/Remove Programs in Windows and Download Manager does not show that anything else needs to be installed. However, when the users click on the Launch Web Professional link on the website, an error pops up saying "Unable to run ProClarity Professional. Either the required components are not installed or you do not have permission to download them."

    Hello,

With Issue #1 the download manager needs to install before web professional will work.  One of the most common problems for installing the download manager and web professional are popup blockers.  Are you seeing the download manager download box appear?  If you're seeing it appear and clicking "Run" but it's still failing, try saving the file to the desktop and running it from there.  For Issue #2 - you'll want to double check and make sure the PWP component is published via the PAS Admin Tool.  If problems persist try manually installing the program via the instructions in the following thread and then retry.

  • We are still having problems solving issue #2 mentioned above even after following the instructions in that thread. The installation has completed successfully for most users. However, a couple are having this issue. This is why I know that the PWP component is published correctly from the admin tool. On the problem computers, Web Professional looks like it has installed successfully. It is shown in Add/Remove programs and also in the registry. What is it that is being checked when one tries to open up a cube with Web Professional? It seems like we must be missing one piece in its check.

One thing to try would be to bypass PAS and open the file %program files%\common files\proclarity\client\proclarity.htm.  Do you get the same error?  If no error then try File>Open Cube and see if you can connect to a cube.
