.M2TS extension RRS feed

  • Question

  • someone sent me a dozen files in a USB stick to be played by Windows Media Player.  So far, i've not been successful to play those files.  Those files have an .M2TS extension and that seem to be causing problem.  I have Windows Media Player 11.  I've already spent $50 to register for SpeedyPC Pro as suggested by the error message, and that software didn't work.  Please advise that is this .M2TS and how do I get it to play on my Windows Media Player 11.  Thanks very much.

  • According to what I know, that extension is used for the Blu-ray Disc Audio-Video (BDAV) MPEG-2 Transport Stream (M2TS) container file format. The ability to play those files depends on used compression formats: some players will need an appropriate codec, component or plugin installed.
Try using VCL Player (http://www.videolan.org/) and see if it works.
