Site Distribution Points will not transfer one package, but each DP is a different package: Help needed getting these 100% RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good morning,

I am in the process of (hopefully) finalizing distribution points at each of my sites, but there is one package at 2 of my DPs that will not transfer successfully.  The thing is, let's say Package A transfers to all DPs except DP1, and Package B transfers to all DPs except DP2.  All my DPs are setup the same, I have BITs/IIS options/WDS/Remote Differential Compression.

I noticed throughout this process that it was giving errors about not being able to write to a certain share, so I:

added our MP/Main SCCM/DP server's computer account to the admin group
added the sccm server's computer account to the security on all shares on the new DPs

Now, the packages that will not process are driver packages.  Example is from the one above:

DP1 has Package1,2,3, but 4 (HP Driver Package) will not ever successfully complete
DP2 has Package 1,3,4 but 2 (Dell Driver Package) will not ever successfully complete

I go to the properties of each server in administration / distribution points and click on content, and the packages show up there with "x.00 MB" size on file, but when I click "validate" I get the following in distmgr.log:

    And that's it...nothing else.

Can someone help me figure this out please?  It's getting very frustrating, for i'm really needing to have these DPs 100% and active so I can start my site's imaging.

    Thanks so much!

  • Distributing driver packages for the first time has always been a little buggy in CM2012.  Not sure why this wasn't fixed in a recent update.  The first time I distribute a driver package, it says it was successfully distributed.  But, when I go to the DPs, it always says 0.00 for the package size.  So, I have to remove it from the DP, redistribute.  Sometimes that does it.  Other times, I have to Update the DPs again to get it to finally copy out to the DPs.  Is this the same issue you are seeing?

  • On mine, if I go to the properties of my "content" on the site's DP, they both say they have the content, and both quote the same file size as the main DP that holds all content/supplying it to all the other DPs.  But, when I go to Monitoring/Distribution Point Configuration Status, they're showed up as errors.  To make matters worse, I have 3 DPs, 2 of them are failing, but 1 of them show 100% complete/transferred.  All of the three show the content in properties and with the same file sizes.

When I try to PXE a client from the site that's missing PackageA, when I start a task sequence, sure enough it does not go forward with the task sequence because it is "missing PackageA".  I was thinking maybe I would get lucky and maybe it just was not refreshed but the content was actually there, but no such luck.

    I'm stumped.

  • Have you already updated (not refreshed) content?

  • I am wanting to say that I have, but I will do that now (on the two packages that are failing) and report back just to make sure...

    Thanks!

  • Those 2 packages are in progress as we speak, but I noticed the following error messages while "updating all distribution points"

(FYI, MPS-SCCM is my main MP/DP for SCCM.  MPCE-SCCM, MPES-SCCM, and MPJH-SCCM are my site DPs)

Here's some errors it threw during updating:

The three DPs are "in progress" right now, will report back what happens.  one of these three before the update was 100%/green checked as successful (MPCE).  Now all three are in progress and waiting the results. :)

Thank you...any help/input is greatly appreciated

  • Anyone out there have any pointers this morning?  I'm very close to just deleting those two packages completely and re-doing the package for them.  I can't think of anything else.  VERY aggravating!

    Thanks so much

  • Good morning,

This is still doing the same thing, and makes no sense to me. I'm hoping someone can chime in and make sense of this.

Package A will distribute immediately to 3 of 4 of my distribution points, but will fail on DP-A
Package B will distribute immediately to 3 of 4 of my distribution points, but will fail on DP-B

The package that fails on DP-A sends successfully/immediately to DP-B and visa versa.

I'm lost...it can't be something wrong with the package, b/c it distributes/installs/works perfectly on any DP it's installed on, but for some reason there's only 1 DP that each package will not distribute to properly...

    I'm lost...anyone got any ideas?

Not every problem can be solved here in the forums so you might consider calling Microsoft support.
