Desktop.ini file

    Question

  • Hello,

I tried searching about it but could not find information about the following:

Under what circumstances desktop.ini file gets created? Is there any process which runs which can cause its creation?

Haven't had luck finding an answer to this.

    Thanks,

    Aman

  • desktop.ini is a Windows file, it is not a viruses.
it controls things like the icon used for that folder and its localized name. It is also a hidden file,
enabling "Hide protected operating system files", it will be hided again and you will not see
    it
In the search box, type folder options > Enter.
Click View at top > check the box "Hide protected operating system files > OK when done.
