MDT 2013: how to change the default monitoring database to another one RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everybody,

I would like to stop using the default compact database to an actual DB stored in SQL server. What would be the best approach? Create an other one? Convert the existing one? Is that even possible?

    Thanks all for your help!

  • Hi,

not sure if that's possible, maybe if you modify the connectionstrings element in Microsoft.BDD.MonitorService.exe.config ? but then here are references to SQLServerCE in other elements and they would most likely have to be modified too.

Or you could write a job to export data from the SQL Server CE and your regular SQL Server to export data. you would have to do that at least once every 3 days since that's the default retention period. (this is customizable in Microsoft.BDD.MonitorService.exe.config too applicationsettings/MaxDays

  • Hi David,

I had a look at the thread. Is there any document on how to do that using Microsoft.BDD.MonitorService.exe.config. Is it recommended and best practice using Microsoft.BDD.MonitorService.exe.config?

Is it possible to have our own custom fields in MDT monitoring; Example we want Business unit, Cubicle Number etc. apart from the default fields.
