  • Hi,

If you've removed the cluster using a PowerShell cmdlet like Remove-Cluster, this is not supported with Exchange and would be the cause of your problems.

As there will now be a number of configuration issues in AD for these servers, it's best that you go through the below steps:

    1. Create two new Exchange servers with new names
    2. Create new DAG/CAS load balancing
    3. Use database portability to move your mailbox databases to one of the new servers: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd876926(v=exchg.141).aspx
    4. Migrate your CAS services to the new servers (change A records etc)
    5. Migrate incoming and outgoing external mail flow to the new servers
    6. Uninstall the two old servers
    7. Clean up the old AD computer accounts and old cluster objects from AD

    Thanks.

  • You have already messed up the configuration, Now you should either follow instruction of Mark or Try to rebuild the cluster. This could be achieved by re-configuration of the Dag, Remove DAG and re-create it.

if this still doesn't work then contact Microsoft PSS.

  • See what is the status of 'Cluster Service' on both server ? If those are stopped then try to start them manually.

If cluster doesn't start then Open "failover clustering" on the server and check the status cluster resource . Most probably Cluster name will be offline.. Also see what are the node status.

Some time rebooting the server one by one will help ?

Do you have both server in same site ?

    Hi,

Please can you let me know the steps you've gone through since the DAG was fully functional. Please include as much detail as possible e.g. cluster removed using the Remove-Cluster PowerShell cmdlet. If you've done a one-way unsupported step such as removing the cluster from under the DAG then your DAG is going to be unstable and you may have problems if the cluster service restarts without any configuration.

Once you confirm the steps you've gone through, we can let you know whether you need to do a DAG rebuild (using my high level task list that I sent through prevoiusly) or if there's another way to fix it.

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

I have found a similar thread for your reference:

    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/8bc914ff-f79e-4231-9b9b-108c137ece25/dag-command-error

Make sure all the cluster related ports are open.

Also use the Test-ReplicationHealth cmdlet to test the health of replication for the Mailbox server.
