Social Networking site

Question

I have been given the task to plan out a Social Network Sharepoint site for a company.
They already have a anonymous Sharepoint site for the general public.
What would be the best way to create a social networking site where some users can log in and use the social tools in sharepoint? Should it be in the same site collection or should it be a sub site or a new web application in the same production server. Can this be developed in the dev sharepoint server and then moved to the production instance? can this be authored ?Friday, August 5, 2011 8:06 PM

Hi,
This depends upon your requirements to do. If you want a new IIS site then go for new web application.
Yes you can create the site in dev and move it to production.

Do you want to do this with MOSS 2007 or with the current product SharePoint Server 2010 ?
