Tape Backup Improvements in DPM 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

DPM 2007 was terrible for flexibility when setting up tape backups. Are there any improvements for tape backup and tape management in DPM 2010? If so where can I find out more information?

    Thanks,

  • Yes, there have been some improvements in tape backup scheduling - especially for long term daily backup options where you can now choose to exclude certain days.  We also added a "data written" column under the library details so you see how much data has been written to tapes.  Tape library sharing has been made more robust to better handle the condition where the global database server might be unavailable.  Library inventories are no longer ran when the library if known to be missing or was removed from DPM server.

If you have other tape management features that you feel are important, please provide us some details for consideration in Vnext.
