Secure Store Service is not accessible RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I'm trying to configure secure store service on my Sharepoint environment. I did all the steps mentioned in microsoft guide. However, when I try to access Secure Store Service instance from Central Administration -> Application Management -> Manage Service Applications -> Secure Store Service Application instance, it gives me

Cannot complete this action as the Secure Store Shared Service is not responding. Please contact your administrator.

So I decided to view ULS log to more digging and found following log :

The Secure Store Service application Secure Store App 2 is not accessible. The full exception text is: The HTTP service located
at https://project:32844/1549062b226e4b8e88f889aa238ab18c/SecureStoreService.svc/https is unavailable. This could be because the service is too busy or because no endpoint was found listening
at the specified address. Please ensure that the address is correct and try accessing the service again later.

I've checked certificate assigned to Sharepoint Web Service and it seems ok. The certificate used in Sharepoint Web Service is it's own certificate. Also restart service several times and recreated service instance several times. But any of them didn't make it work. Please share your thoughts on this.

    Thanks guys.

  • 1. Check AppPool Account which secure store service is running is not stopped.

Go to Inetmgr -> Find the application pool for Secure store Service

If Stopped - start the AppPool

    2.  Check if Secure store service is not started,  if not go and Start as below.

Central Admin - > Application Management -> Manage Services on the Server

  • Old post, I know...but this can also happen if you've rebuilt the Secure Store, but the old Secure Store is still mapped to the web application.

From Central Admin > Application Management > Manage Web Applications

Click your web application to highlight it, and from Service Connections in the ribbon, make sure the current Secure Store Service Application is selected.  You'll probably find an "old" one is selected.

  • Did you check to see if the Secure Store is started?

  • Also, delete the secure store and rebuild and configure it.   Sometime rebuilding fixes corruption issues.
