Desktop gadgets are managed by your system administrator RRS feed

Hello. I recently followed a MS recommendation and added a security fix that is supposed to make gadget use more secure. After this, my gadgets disappeared and I get the message "Desktop gadgets are managed by your system administrator" when I try to add gadgets even though I AM the system administrator.

I have tried the fix.reg solution posted by John Cena (Feb. 4, 2010) for Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 but it doesn't work for me. My editor is Version 6.1. When I try to execute the commands by clicking the fix.reg file I have created in notepad I get the following message:

"Cannot import C:\Users\bwha\Desktop\fix.reg: The specified file is not a registry script. You can only import binary registry files from within the registry editor."

Please advise as to how I should proceed.
