  • I'd like to see a complete list, but here's the bits I know of:

    AD Connector:
    Active Directory SID
    NetBIOS Computer Name
    NetBIOS Domain Name
    DNS Name
    Display Name
    Principal Name
Active Directory Site (but always sets it to blank!)
(to be added in SP1 - Operating System Version and Display Name)

    SCCM Connector:
    Last Inventory Date
    Active Directory Site
Offset In Minutes From Greenwich Time
    Runs Windows Computer
    Hosts Windows Logical Hardware
    Has Software Installed
    Has Software Update Installed
    Hardware Identifier
    Manufacturer
    SMBIOS Asset Tag
    SMBIOS UUID
    Model
    System Type
    Chassis Type
    Number of Processors
    Serial Number

    SCOM Connector:
    Organisational Unit (AD OU)
    Network Name
    IP Address
    DNS Forest Name
    NetBIOS Computer Name
    Virtual Machine (True/False)
    Logical Processors
    DNS Domain Name
    Hosts Windows Computer Role
    Hosts System Center Licence
    Hosts Windows Local Application

  • - Active Directory connector: adds users, groups, printers, and computers (and only these object types) as configuration items into the Service Manager database with all the attributes that the AD know about...

    - SCOM connecotr: Operations Manager 2007 collects information about many different types of objects, such as hard disk drives and Web sites. To import objects that are discovered by Operations Manager, Service Manager requires a list of class definitions for these objects; the list of definitions is in the Operations Manager 2007 management packs. Therefore, you must import some Operations Manager 2007 management packs into Service Manager.

    - SCCM connector:  Importing data by using a Configuration Manager Connector can add details about a configuration item that has already been imported by using an Active Directory Connector, or add new configuration items that do not exist in Active Directory domains... You can import configuration baselines from Configuration Manager and then use them to automatically generate incidents for non-compliant configuration items...

  • Thanks Steve,

As there isn't any documentation regarding this maybe we can continue to build on your list. Great start!

    Thanks Anders

  • No probs Anders.

It's by no means exhaustive, but like you I think it would be invaluable to have.

I've popped a post on my blog here:
    http://systemscentre.blogspot.com/2010/11/service-manager-connectors-what.html

I'll endevour to keep it up-to-date as I find more information and if anyone from the product team notices this thread, please please could you see if you've got a reference doc laying around that you could fling our way to help us?

    Cheers,
    SB

  • Just a quicky, I've updated my blog post with reference to the two appendix (B & C) on the SP1 Technet documentation that show the field mapping between the connectors and Service Manager.
