Network not showing all computers RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello people,

I have 20 computers in the network. I have Windows Server 2012 R2 as a Domain Controller. Not all computers are within the domain for software incompatibility issues. For some computers when I surf through Network Places, I only see 8 computers (server is not listed). That happens with Windows 7 pro, Windows 10 pro, Windows 10 home (not in domain obviously).

The DNS server is working perfectly fine. I've tried to setup DNS manually in the computer, I started the following services: DNS Client, Function Discovery Resource Publication, SSDP Discovery, UPNP Device Host. I've checked all network discovery options...

What else can I do? Any thought?

    Thanks in advance

  • I think I found the problem. About 2 weeks ago, I installed a My Book from WD in the network. I read in a forum that one Linux based software could prevail on Microsoft Netbios list and share that list to all computers. And it is exactly what happened. After removing My Book WD from the network, after a few hours all computers showed up in the network list.

I hope this help someone in the future.
