Calculating storagepoll and best practices RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

I have some questions about SCDPM 2010:

Is there any sheet to calculate storage poll and SCDPM HW requirements?

What is the best practice to use for a storagepoll = Local Disk, SAN, etc?

Can I backup a sharepoint 2007 and restores just one item/file?

Is possible to backup WSS 3.0? and EPM?

  • Hi,

you can find calculator here : http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=24375

I'd say for the storage pool that you should look at the combination of performance/cost. And calculate which solution is the best in your case. Depending on the volume that you are willing to protect.

I leave other questions to sharepoint specialist.

    Hi Jrsce,

Yes you can protect SharePoint 2007 with DPM 2010. No you cannot perform Item Level Restores when protecting SharePoint 2007. You can only perform Item Level Restores when protecting SharePoint 2010.

  • In my environment I am able to restore up to files. OK, you have to use a recovery farm but yes I have recovered sites, sub-sites and also single files. So sure you are able to to a item level restore with SharePoint 2007.
