Failed to open a pps file in Word 2003 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using Word 2010 and inserted a PPS file (PowerPoint Presentation) into the document. I have saved the file into a doc format. However, my colleagues, who is using Office 2003, couldn't open the file with Word 2003.

    Below error message appeared:
This object was created in PowerPoint.
The application is not available to open this object.
Make sure the application is properly installed and that
it has not been deleted, moved or renamed.

Checked that computer is installed with PowerPoint 2003 and Office 2007 Compatibility Pack successfully.
Kindly appreciate if anyone has a solution on how to solve this error. Thanks

  • Hi Danny,

Could you tell us the detail steps how you insert the PPS file into the document?

    I have tried the following:

Create a new document in Word 2010, select Insert tab, click Object button, select Create from File tab, click Browse to select the .pps file (which is created by PowerPoint 2010), (either select or not select Display as icon), and click OK, save the document with .doc file format.

And I can open it from Word 2003 + PowerPoint 2003.

Try to repair your Office 2003 as a quick fix.
