Database Mirroring Split Brain RRS feed

  • Hi all,

    I had faced one of the interview on yesterday, they ask what is split brain. we don't know really about split brain. can any one explain split brain?

  • Basically, in high availability mirroring you have a scenario where the communication/link between the mirror and principal is disrupted and both servers believe they are the principal.  Both databases are online and respond/process queries.  Obviously at this point the databases diverge.

    The witness server's supposed to prevent this from happening.
