Cumulative Update 1 and client upgrades RRS feed

  • Question

  • Greetings,

We have some client agents that are native CM2012 and some that have been upgraded to CM2012 SP1.

The documentation for CU1 isnt that clear on the following questions  -

When I send out the CU1 update package, must my target clients be SP1? IOW, do I have to upgrade my native CM2012 client agents to SP1 before I send out the CU1 package?

If I have applied CU1 on all my site servers, does it update the client source? IOW - If I do a push, will the new client automatically be installed as SP1 CU1? Or must I send out the CU1 update package after pushing client installs?

    Thanks

    David Z

  • CU1 for SP1 only applies to SP1 client agents so yes you need to update them -- using the built in-auto upgrade feature works quite well for this.

No, the built-in client agent package is not automatically updated to CU1 because CU1 is an MSP. You can add the PATCH= property the client installation properties, use a package and normal software updates, or the SCUP catalog to deploy the CU1 update.

  • Hi David,

thats quite simple. Just navigate to Administration / Site Configuration / Sites. Mark your Site and click on Hierachy Settings. Click on the 3rd tab which is "Automatic Client Upgrade" and select "Upgrade client automatically when new client updates are available".

  • Thanks. I didnt know you could use the Patch= feature. This wasnt documented in the CU1 doco.

Also, how do you use the "Built in auto upgrade feature" to upgrade to SP1 from native please?

    Thanks

  • So let's say we have the 2012 native client installed on a machine during a build. If I turn this auto client upgrade feature on, and the 2012 native client connects to my SP1 CU1 system, it will automatically get both SP1 and CU1 (and CU2 when its installed etc? Or will it just get SP1?

    Thanks

  • Just SP1. Auto-upgrade does not handle anything except SPs.
