VMWARE Test Lab RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a server with Windows 2008 and VMware 6 installed on it to use as a test lab.
I would like to set a test lab that includes 2 DC's Windows 2008 and one Member server with SQL 2005 SP2, and SCCM 2007 SP2 in virtual environments.

Are the any issues with running SCCM, or SQL in VM environment?
Does anybody know some best practices to make this work?

    Thank you.

  • For a test lab you are ok. For prod you MUST setup SQL in a particular way. This blog talks about Hyper-v only but I have since found out that is applies to all supported virtualization products. (ie vmware, etc.)

  • Hi,

Based on my experience, SCCM 2007 SP2 R2 can be running on Hyper-v well, I do all my SCCM test in Hyper-V environment,

    Note:

To load WinPE in a Hyper-V  you need to add a legacy network adapter to the VM instead of a synthetic NIC.
