Windows asking for a PIN instead of password

  • My computer when I turn it on asks for a PIN to get into windows which I never set up so have no clue what the PIN is and this has rendered my computer unusable, anyone else having same issue or  can point me in right direction to get into my computer I do have access to other computers so can go Online to get answers if needed.

  • Hi,

It's impossible there is pin code asked if you don't set it.

Did you see the logon screen as below?

If yes, click another Sign-in options as below:

input normal password to sign in.

  • After some update last night, Windows asked for my PIN at login, even I never set it up.

And I am on a domain, which means PIN is not even in use!

I had to go to the PIN settings and remove it, and now setting a PIN is grayed out.

So it is possible to get a PIN question even when you have never set it up.

  • MY login screen has the request to create a pin, but below this are 2 logos, one the phone digit shape the other a letter box shape labelled, password login. Use that and you bypass the pin request. One more keypress, but worth it to avoid microsoft's autocracy
